Fig Moonshine?
by: Charlie Anthony on 05.May.2004 19:52:14

I have been thinking about trying a fig mash.
I think it would make an excellent moonshine,
but I can't recall ever hearing of fig 'shine.
Anybody have any experience in this endevor?
Thanks, Charlie

To make an excellent fig schnapps, there are three possibilities:
1. put the fresh figs in 50%vol tasteless alcohol, after three to four weeks
its ready to drink
2. Take tasteless alcohol with 12-14%vol, put it into the still. Now add the
figs and distill it. Great taste!
3. Mash the figs: you have to smash the fresh figs, add only a small amount
of
water, a little bit sugar and a good yeast:
20 kg figs, 2 litre water, 5 kg sugar, yeast. The fermentation will start
at least after app. 24 hours.

Cheers!
